Corrosion technology is a stable occupation due to the fact that corrosion will never go away. It is a rapidly growing field as a result of crumbling infrastructure, reliance on energy, and many corrosion technicians near retirement. Students of Corrosion Technology develop a basic understanding of electricity, chemistry, metallurgy and the properties of materials. Careers in corrosion apply these sciences to detect and control chemical and mechanical deterioration. Corrosion Technicians work both indoors and outdoors installing, maintaining, inspecting and troubleshooting all sorts of facilities such as pipelines, storage tanks, building components, industrial equipment, airplanes, ships, railcars, etc. Corrosion technicians can choose from a cast variety of fields for their future. Some of them include Gas and oil industry, Dairy industry, Pipelines, Electric, cable, telephone companies, Auto, vehicle and heavy equipment industry, Metallurgy and polymers to name a few.
