A chemical technician is someone who utilizes laboratory instruments and techniques to help chemists and chemical engineers research, develop, produce, and test chemical products and processes. Chemical technicians typically have three areas of responsibility: processing chemicals, completing orders and writing reports. They specialize in a specific industry or type of technology in order to provide a high level of quality service and to focus their career on a specific area. Becoming a chemical technician is an ideal career path for those who enjoy scientific study and prefer to work with their hands in a laboratory environment. Chemical or biochemical technicians often work in clinical (medical) laboratories conducting routine analyses of medical samples such as blood and urine. Industries which employ chemical technicians include chemical, petrochemical, and pharmaceutical industries.
