Applied mathematics can be visualized as an academic discipline that uses the principles of advanced mathematics for the handling of problems in the areas of engineering, economics, security, and computer science. A student enrolled in this program will have a rigorous schedule while having to take courses related to mathematical problem solving, linear algebra, probability theory, applied calculus, matrices and some courses related to finance, engineering and computer sciences as electives. Mathematics open up a number of career choices such as to work as a mathematician for a private or government organization, or seek career in statistics, actuary, finance, data analysis, academia, computer science, and risk assessment.
