This degree provides students with the skills, tools and training required to provide rehabilitation services to patients suffering from a variety of mental, emotional or physical disabilities. Every life has challenges, but for people living with a disability or chronic illness, everyday tasks can be burdensome. Rehabilitation psychologists support these individuals as they cope with the mental and physical challenges their conditions present and will often teach them how to adapt and make lifestyle choices that promote good health. Rehabilitation psychologists might work in a number of different health facilities. This can include hospitals, physical therapy centers, long-term care centers, drug and alcohol rehabilitation centers, psychiatric hospitals, and mental health clinics.
