Psychometrics and quantitative psychology is the study of psychological measurement. This branch of psychology includes the measurement of knowledge, personality traits, attitudes and abilities. Students of psychometrics and quantitative psychology are mainly concerned with the design and application of questionnaires, tests and other instruments of psychological measurement. Many institutions offer psychometrics and quantitative psychology at the graduate level through their psychology departments. Commonly, degree program concentrations also offer courses in psychometrics and quantitative psychology. Graduate programs typically include coursework in sensation and perception, physiological psychology, cognitive development, statistics, psychological assessment and psychopathology. It may be useful to pursue mathematics major as an undergraduate.
