A degree in this subject is broad enough to groom the graduates for any major area of the petroleum and gas engineering profession. Students are provided opportunities to visit oil and gas fields, transmission and storage stations, and refineries, to familiarize them with the tasks and operations they have to undertake in their professional career. You can be a manager, an entrepreneur, economist, or environmental/safety specialist. Petroleum engineers may also find rewarding opportunities in such fields as teaching, consulting, and government service. Groundwater hydrology, environmental engineering, and safety engineering are other specialties within the petroleum industry. But your choices don’t stop there.
