Applied linguistics is an interdisciplinary field of linguistics which identifies, investigates, and offers solutions to language-related real-life problems. The very fact you are a language teacher at all signifies that you are using applied linguistics. This branch of linguistics is the practical side of language. As its name suggests, it applies knowledge about language to real-world issues. Once equipped with the applied linguistic degree, one can pursue to become a Translator, teach a foreign language, Forensic linguist, Technical writer or Lexicographer to name a few.
